![]() The Resin bound gravel paving applies the science of combining small stones i.e gravels with the use of high-tech resins in order to form a fixed surface that is attractive. This is because it provides a sturdy, low-maintenance, pervious and artistic surfacing solution that allows you to go wild with your creative imagination. Unwashed crushed rock is often very dusty but is excellent as a base material.If you are a homeowner, school owner or business owner with lots of outdoor space, or you simply wish to enhance the aesthetics of your property, you should consider using resin bound gravel as your surfacing material. Unwashed natural gravel is a little dusty when delivered but the dust will settle in with the first rain. Finally, both natural and man-made stones come in washed and unwashed batches. The sizes listed are an average and sometimes larger and smaller stones will be included. IMO a natural 3/4 to 1 & 1/2' gravel is less likely to be dislodged or end up in someone's shoe than pea gravel. After that a common size is 3/4 to 1 & 1/2', then 1 to 3' gravel. Gravel known as fines or screenings is similar. The decomposed granite is less than 1/4' with most of it being like a very coarse sand. Both natural and man-made gravels come in different sizes. Even when natural gravels are used at the surface, crushed rock gravel may have been used as a base. Natural gravels are easier to dislodge even after compacting. It stays in place better after compacting. Crushed rock gravel is better for creating stable paths. Crushed rock gravels are man-made and have rough edges. Natural gravels have a somewhat smooth surface. The type of gravel you choose is important for how you wish to use a space. If the stump is mostly gone the roots should be too, so filling in should fix that problem. The rotted stump leaves an obvious depression, but the rotting of large roots can also leave depressions. When a tree is removed the stump and roots eventually rot away. But do get some professional advice on this! Then once you have done all that come over to my place and build me one just like it, kay!? PS: good point about the bracing! I would factor that into your design def. In effect that makes it possible to pick up and move at the end of the day should you need to down the road. And by using an internal connection system you are NOT sinking your posts directly into concrete as well. Tying it to the ground should then eliminate any worry of the thing shifting. The fastener would then slide into its post and pinned/fastened on the exterior somewhere unobtrusive. and filled with concrete) Then before the concrete has set you will set your hidden fastener within the wet concrete (making sure its corrosion resistant metal/steel). Why not create footings at each post, or even every other one (with sona tubes sunk 4' min. Without a diagram I can't really grasp the design portion of this but here goes anyway: The sheer weight of the structure would likely hold it in place but I would still pin it to Terra firma via a hidden fastening system within the pipe itself. And this is more likely an engineering question specifically. Let me make it clear: I'm not a structural engineer so can't answer regarding the project pictured here.
